Civil Weddings
The Malton is a registered venue for civil wedding ceremonies. The Civil Registration Act 2004 states that permanent structures which are open to the public may be licensed as venues where Civil Marriage Ceremonies may take place. The responsibility of having the venue registered for the purposes of a civil marriage lies with the couple who are planning to marry and there are prescribed criteria which the venue must meet in order to gain approval.
We have four venues within the hotel available for civil wedding ceremonies:
The Reading Room
The Reading Room is one of our private lounges off the main hotel lobby. It will hold up to 20 guests for your ceremony.
The Malton Room
The Malton Room will hold up to 50 guests and is located on the ground floor of the hotel.
The Middle Lake Room
The Middle Lake Room will hold up to 70 guests. It is a beautiful Victorian room, located in the main house of the hotel.
The Muckross Suite
The Muckross Suite will hold from 70 guests upwards. It forms part of our ballroom and guests can leave this room and enjoy their drinks reception afterwards in the garden or in the adjoining Muckross Bar. Dinner and after dinner entertainment is held in our adjacent ballroom.
