They murdered John F. Kennedy, a martyr too was he 

shot down without a warning in Texas of the free. 

To prove they were not colour blind they slaughered Luther King 

Seems murder is in fashion and shooting is the thing.

We mourn Robert Kennedy just like his brother John 

They fought their battles bravely till death came swiftly on 

While wives and children suffer whose hearts with grief are sore 

For those two gallant martyrs whom they shall see no more

Their cause shall be remembered wherever free men live 

Unselfishly they gave their lives what more can free men give 

And as they rest in Arlington two heroes side by side 

We pray as we remember them with sorrow and with pride 

Jimmy Cullinane was Head Waiter in the Great Southern Hotel (now The Malton), when he wrote this poem in memory of Robert & John F Kennedy, their brother Edward Kennedy wrote a note to Jimmy expressing his appreciation on behalf of the Kennedy Family.

 An original copy of the poem, the appreciation letter with envelope as well as an excerpt from House of Representatives mentioning another poem written in memory of John F Kennedy are on view in The Kennedy Suite in The Malton.

The Irish Open Golf Tournament goes all the way back in time to 1927. With such a rich heritage, it is regarded as one of the best European Tour events by the players.

Over the years, The Irish Open has been won, by many of the world’s golfing greats, including names such as Seve Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, Colin Montgomerie and Bernhard Langer, who each won three times.

This year, the 3 Irish Open will take place at the Killarney Golf and Fishing Club from the 29th July to 1st August 2010 with a prize fund of over €3 million. This will be the third time that Killarney has hosted the Irish Open following consecutive events in 1991 and ’92.

  The Killeen course, which is the jewel in the crown of the three-course Killarney Golf Complex, was originally designed in 1972 by Eddie Hackett and Billy O’Sullivan. The Killarney lakes and high mountain range provide a stunning backdrop to this Championship course. The 2010 tournament in Killarney will not fail to excite players and golfing fans alike.
