Living History: During the filming of Ryan's Daughter, the rooms now dedicated to The Gallery Room Restaurant - the original Malton Rooms - were converted into a cinema, complete with tip-up seats and silver screen. Booked for two years solid, it was here that director David Lean and his team would gather every evening to view the day's shoot.
